WHY JOIN A CLUB

Trails don’t build themselves

Most of the singletrack you ride was cut and is maintained by club volunteers. Membership funds tools, materials and land access agreements.

Racing needs a club

National and UCI-affiliated series require club membership before you can enter.

Riding with people is better

Club rides, coaching nights, working bees and local events — the fastest way into a riding scene in a new town.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need to join a club to ride in New Zealand?
No. Most trail networks are open to the public. Club membership matters if you want to race a national or UCI-affiliated series, or if you want to support the volunteers who build and maintain your local trails.
Which club should I join?
Usually the one closest to the trails you ride most. Clubs are grouped by region below — start with yours and check what membership includes.
What does membership cover?
It varies by club. Most put funds toward trail maintenance and land access, and many include race licensing and club rides. Check the club’s own site for current rates and what is included.
