Every mountain bike race in New Zealand we can get confirmed details for, on one page — club rounds and local downhill through to national championships. The list is pulled from our public events calendar and refreshed every hour, so it moves as organisers confirm dates.
Upcoming mountain bike races in New Zealand
Every race currently confirmed on the Outset race calendar is listed below in date order. Filter by discipline, island or level to get to the ones you would actually enter.
Race information in New Zealand is scattered — a club Facebook page here, a series site there, a schools calendar somewhere else. This page pulls it into one list: downhill, enduro, cross-country, marathon and Super D, from Tier 4 club racing up to Tier 1 national titles. Every race links straight through to the organiser’s own entry page, because they own the detail.
Dates move. The calendar updates as organisers publish changes, and races whose dates are not locked in yet are flagged rather than left off the list. Check the organiser’s page before you book travel.
Getting the bike ready is the other half of race week. The Outset workshop in Auckland books race prep and suspension servicing, and if you are travelling to an unfamiliar venue the New Zealand trail map shows what else is worth riding while you are there.

Which race series run in New Zealand?
These are the series that make up most of the calendar. Each runs several rounds a season, so if you are picking a target for the year, start here.
- NZDH — a multi-round downhill series, with rounds at venues including Rotorua, Rivenrock and Fourforty. nzdownhill.co.nz
- Southern Downhill Series — the South Island gravity series, running through Bluff, Mt Hutt and Coronet Peak.
- Gravity Canterbury — the Winter Gravity Series, the Ōtautahi Enduro and the NZ Open at Christchurch Adventure Park and Victoria Park. gravitycanterbury.org
- NZ Enduro Series — opens with the Mammoth Enduro in Nelson. enduronz.com
- Nelson MTB Club Super D — four local gravity rounds, plus the Codgers kids enduro. nelsonmtb.club
- Cycling New Zealand Schools — national and regional schools championships across cross-country, enduro and downhill. schools.cyclingnewzealand.nz
- Spring Cup XC — Waikato cross-country rounds run by Te Miro MTB Club. temiromtbclub.co.nz
- Marathon and festival racing — one-off events that draw riders from everywhere, including Whaka100 in Rotorua and the Coppermine MTB Festival in Nelson.
Not racing a series? Club racing is the easiest way in, and most clubs run low-key rounds that welcome first-timers. The Outset club register lists mountain bike clubs around the country, and the coach register lists coaches if you want a hand getting up to speed.
