Industry Nine Hydra2 Hubs & We Are One Rims
Hydra2 hubs machined in Asheville, North Carolina. We Are One rims in two materials: Convergence carbon, hand laid in Kamloops, BC, and the Sector AL and Triad AL aluminium rims for a lower-cost build. We stock the hubs and rims in Three Kings and lace them into complete wheels in our own workshop.
What is new in the Hydra2 hub?
Hydra2 lifts engagement to 870 points, 0.41° between clicks, and rebuilds the internals for durability: six phased pawls with three teeth each on a 7% larger drive ring, a rear axle 65% thicker than the original Hydra, full-contact radial lip seals with a labyrinth channel, and 60% less coasting drag. The internals are not backwards compatible with first-generation Hydra hubs, so a Hydra2 is a new hub rather than an upgrade kit.

870 points of engagement
Industry Nine quotes 870 points of engagement at 0.41°. On technical climbs and ratchet moves the driver picks up almost as soon as you turn the pedals.

Six phased pawls, three teeth each
Larger pawl pockets dissipate force better and resist elongation. The drive ring is 7% larger with shallower teeth, which Industry Nine says keeps the noise level in check.

A rear axle 65% thicker
The externally butted axle is 65% thicker than the outgoing design, with a stress washer at the freehub to spread loads into the shell.

Sealed for wet riding
Full-contact radial lip seals plus a labyrinth channel on 6903 hubshell bearings, with the brake-side bearing moved further into the hub. Coasting drag is down 60%.
Hydra2 hubs are available in Boost and Super Boost / DH spacings, with XD, Micro Spline, HG or single-speed freehubs, 6-bolt or Centerlock rotor mounts, and seven anodised colours: black, silver, orange, gold, red, purple and bronze. Not every combination is on the shelf, so if the option you want is not listed below, ask us and we will order it through 3Sixty Sports, the New Zealand distributor.

Which We Are One rim do you need?
We Are One makes rims in two materials. Convergence is the carbon range: hand laid in Kamloops, BC, with a lifetime warranty to the original owner that includes riding impact damage. The Sector AL and Triad AL are the aluminium rims: the same trail and enduro profiles in extruded 6069 hollow-bead aluminium, at a lower price. They sit outside the Convergence range. Pick by how you ride, then by budget.

We Are One Convergence Carbon
- Hand laid in Kamloops, BC by We Are One
- Sector 28 mm internal (trail), Triad 30 mm (enduro), Fuse 33 mm (e-MTB), Deal (DH), Whisp (XC)
- Alternating 7.5° spoke faces to reduce spoke fatigue; ZRT composite films in the layup
- Lifetime warranty to the original owner, riding impact damage included, plus a crash replacement policy

We Are One Aluminium
- Extruded 6069 hollow-bead aluminium; not part of the Convergence range
- Sector AL: 28.5 mm internal, 29″, 28h or 32h, 510 g
- Triad AL: 30 mm internal, 27.5″ or 29″, 32h, 540 g / 575 g
- 21.3 mm rim depth on both profiles; the lower-cost way into a Hydra2 wheel build

How do we build a Hydra2 and We Are One wheel?
You choose the rim, the hub spacing, the freehub and the colour; we lace, tension and true the wheel here in Three Kings. Spoke lengths come from the same calculator we publish on this site, and every build is checked before it leaves the workshop.
Already own a Hydra2 or a set of We Are One rims? We can build around what you have. Send us the parts list and we will quote the build.
Hydra2 and We Are One FAQ

Can I upgrade my original Hydra hub to Hydra2 internals?
No. Industry Nine redesigned the axle, pawls, drive ring and seals together, and the Hydra2 internals are not backwards compatible with the first-generation Hydra. Existing Hydra hubs are still supported with spares, and we stock pawls, springs, seals and freehub lubricant for them.

Which freehub and rotor standards does Hydra2 come in?
Freehubs: SRAM XD, Shimano Micro Spline, HG and single speed. Rotor mounts: 6-bolt or Centerlock. Rear spacings run from 12 x 142 through Boost 12 x 148 to Super Boost 12 x 157 and DH 12 x 150, with matching Boost and non-Boost fronts. Tell us the bike and we will confirm the fit.

Carbon or aluminium: which rim should I choose?
Convergence Carbon is the lighter, stiffer rim with the lifetime warranty that covers riding impacts; it suits riders who want the wheel to feel precise and are hard on equipment. The We Are One Sector AL and Triad AL use the same internal widths in 6069 aluminium at a lower price, which makes them the practical choice for a first Hydra2 build or a spare set for winter.

What does the We Are One rim warranty cover?
We Are One covers Convergence carbon rims with a lifetime warranty to the original owner, including damage from riding impacts, and runs a crash replacement policy for anything outside that. Warranty claims on wheels bought from Outset are handled through us.

Do you sell the hubs and rims separately?
Yes. Hydra2 hubs and We Are One rims are sold individually on this site, so you can buy a hub for your own builder or a pair of rims for a rebuild. If you would rather we build the wheel, use the enquiry button and include your rim, hub spacing, freehub and spoke count.
