Commencal FRS – 2027
The Commencal FRS is an alloy freeride and downhill mountain bike with 200mm of travel front and rear and 27.5″ wheels at both ends. It is offered at outset.bike in two 2027 builds — Signature in Pure Black and RockShox in Pure White — in sizes S, M, L and XL.
At outset.bike, we stock bikes we genuinely believe in. The FRS is Commencal’s dedicated freeride platform — built for steep entries, big compressions and hard landings rather than race-clock splits.
A DEDICATED FREERIDE PLATFORM
Commencal builds the FRS around a triple butted 6069 alloy frame that weighs just 4.22kg, with 200mm of rear travel on a 250 x 75mm shock and a 2-position shock anchor adjustment. The recommended sag is a deep 28–32%, the head angle sits at 64° and the seat tube angle at 63° — this is a bike designed to be ridden standing up, with the saddle out of the way. Full 27.5″ wheels and 435mm chainstays on every size keep it compact and easy to move around in the air. Why it matters: the FRS is shaped for compression-heavy gravity riding, not pedalling efficiency, and it makes no apologies for it.
CHOOSING YOUR BUILD
Signature – Pure Black is the Fox Factory build: a Fox 40 Factory 27.5″ fork with the Grip X2 damper and a Fox Float X2 Factory shock, both with high- and low-speed compression and rebound adjustment. Shifting is SRAM GX DH 7-speed with E13 Helix cranks and an E13 Vario chain guide, braking is SRAM Maven Bronze 4-piston on 200mm HS2 rotors, and the wheels are DT Swiss FR541/FR571 rims on DT Swiss 350 hubs. A Burgtec Ride Wide bar and MK3 direct-mount stem and a Schwalbe Magic Mary Gravity Pro front / Tacky Chan rear tyre pairing finish it. It weighs 17.5kg (average size S, without pedals).
RockShox – Pure White pairs a RockShox Boxxer Ultimate 27.5″ fork with a Vivid Coil Ultimate DH shock running size-specific spring rates (300lbs on S through 450lbs on XL). SRAM GX DH 7-speed shifting, SRAM Maven Base 4-piston brakes on 200mm rotors, DT Swiss F1900 Classic wheels and a Ride Alpha cockpit complete it, with the same Schwalbe Magic Mary / Tacky Chan tyre pairing in Gravity casing. It weighs 17.35kg (average size S, without pedals).
SIZING & GEOMETRY
The FRS comes in S, M, L and XL. Reach runs 440, 465, 490 and 510mm, with a 64° head angle, a 63° seat tube angle and 435mm chainstays on every size. As a guide, S suits riders 158–170cm (5′2″–5′7″), M suits 168–180cm (5′6″–5′11″), L suits 178–190cm (5′10″–6′3″) and XL suits 188–200cm (6′2″–6′7″). If you’re between sizes, get in touch and we’ll help you choose.
FRAME, STANDARDS & WHAT’S INCLUDED
The frame runs a Press Fit BB107 bottom bracket, ISCG 05 tabs, a 31.6mm seatpost with a 34.9mm clamp and a ZS44/ZS56 headset. The rear hub spacing is 150 x 12mm on a Maxle-standard 180mm M12 axle, rear tyre clearance is 65mm, and the rear brake mount is postmount 200mm with a 203mm maximum rotor; the frame is piggy-back shock compatible. Both builds ship with a down tube protector, chainstay and seatstay protectors, a shuttle pad and fork bumpers. The FRS is covered by Commencal’s warranty, and every purchase includes free Commencal Care support — contact us for current warranty terms. Pedals are not included.
