Commencal Meta SX V4 – 2027
The Commencal Meta SX V4 is an alloy mullet enduro and freeride bike with 160mm of rear travel, a 170mm fork and a 29″ front / 27.5″ rear wheel pairing. It is offered at outset.bike in one 2027 build — Essential in Pure White — in sizes S, M, L and XL.
At outset.bike, we stock bikes we genuinely believe in. The Meta SX V4 suits steep natural tracks where grip, support and consistency matter — a straightforward alloy enduro bike at a price that leaves room in the budget for riding it.
A MULLET ENDURO PLATFORM
Commencal builds the Meta SX V4 around a triple butted 6066 alloy frame with T4 and T6 heat treatment, 160mm of rear travel on a 230 x 62.5mm shock and a mixed-wheel format — 29″ up front for roll-over, 27.5″ out back for clearance and agility on steep terrain. The frame itself weighs 3.9kg, Commencal recommends 26–30% shock sag, a two-position shock anchor switches the geometry between low and high settings, and the frame accepts piggy-back shocks. Why it matters: the mullet format gives the front wheel the grip and composure of a 29er while the smaller rear wheel keeps the bike easy to move around under you on steep, tight tracks.
THE ESSENTIAL BUILD
The Essential build pairs a Fox 38 Performance fork with 170mm of travel and the 3-position Grip damper with a Fox Float X Performance shock. The drivetrain is Shimano Deore 12-speed throughout, with TRP EVO Expert 4-piston brakes on 203mm rotors. DT Swiss E 593 rims on 370 hubs, a KS Ragei 2.0 dropper (150mm on S, 180mm on M, 210mm on L and XL) and a Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip front / DHR II MaxxTerra rear tyre pairing complete it. It weighs 17.1kg (average, size S, without pedals).
SIZING & GEOMETRY
The Meta SX V4 comes in S, M, L and XL. In the high setting, reach runs 440, 460, 485 and 510mm, with a 64° head angle, 78.4° seat tube angle and chainstays of 443mm (S and M) or 448mm (L and XL); the low setting slackens the head angle to 63.6° and the seat angle to 78°. As a guide, S suits riders 158–170cm (5′2″–5′7″), M suits 168–180cm (5′6″–5′11″), L suits 178–190cm (5′10″–6′3″) and XL suits 188–200cm (6′2″–6′7″). If you’re between sizes, get in touch and we’ll help you choose.
FRAME, STANDARDS & WHAT’S INCLUDED
The frame runs a Press Fit BB92 bottom bracket, ISCG 05 tabs with a chain guide fitted, a 34.9mm seatpost and a Maxle standard 12mm rear axle (this frame does not use UDH), and it clears a rear tyre up to 65mm wide. The rear brake mount is postmount 200mm with a 220mm maximum rotor. The bike ships with a down tube protector, chainstay and seatstay protectors, a shuttle pad, a fork mud guard and a Fidlock bottle base. The Meta SX V4 carries Commencal’s lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects for the original purchaser, with free Commencal Care support. Pedals are not included.
