Commencal Meta SX V5 – 2027

The Commencal Meta SX V5 is an alloy enduro and freeride mountain bike with 165mm of rear travel, a 170mm Fox 38 fork and a mullet wheel setup — a 29″ front wheel and a 27.5″ rear. It is offered at outset.bike in two 2027 builds — Signature in Pure Black and Essential in Pure White — in sizes S, M, L and XL.

A MULLET ENDURO PLATFORM

Commencal builds the Meta SX V5 around a triple butted 6066 alloy frame that weighs just 4.08kg, with 165mm of rear travel on a 230 x 65mm shock and a custom upper chain guide over an ISCG 05 lower mount. The mullet format pairs a 29″ front wheel for rolling speed with a 27.5″ rear for clearance and agility on steep terrain, with a 64° head angle, a 77.5° seat tube angle and recommended sag of 27–30%. Why it matters: the SX takes the Meta platform and points it downhill — it pedals to the top, but it is built for the way back down.

CHOOSING YOUR BUILD

Signature – Pure Black is the top build: a 2027 Fox 38 Factory fork with the Grip X2 damper and a Fox Float X2 Factory shock, both with high- and low-speed compression and rebound adjustment. Shifting is SRAM Eagle 90 T-Type 12-speed with SRAM X0 T-Type cranks and a 10–52T cassette, braking is Shimano XT 4-piston on 203mm MT905 rotors, and the wheels are DT Swiss EX1700 rims on 350 hubs. A OneUp V3 dropper (150mm on S, 180mm on M, 210mm on L and XL) and Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip front / DHR II MaxxTerra rear tyres in the new EXO+ casing finish it. It weighs 16.9kg (average size S, without pedals).

Essential – Pure White runs a 2027 Fox 38 Performance fork with the Grip damper and a Fox Float X Performance shock with a 2-position lever. Shifting is SRAM Eagle 90 12-speed with Eagle 70 cranks and a 10–52T cassette, braking is TRP EVO Expert 4-piston on 203mm rotors, and the wheels are DT Swiss E593 rims on 370 hubs with the same Maxxis Assegai / DHR II EXO+ tyre pairing. A KS Ragei dropper (150mm on S, 170mm on M, 190mm on L and XL) completes it. It weighs 16.7kg (average size S, without pedals).

SIZING & GEOMETRY

The Meta SX V5 comes in S, M, L and XL. Reach runs 440, 460, 480 and 500mm, with a 64° head angle and 77.5° seat tube angle on every size; chainstays are 442mm on S and M and 447mm on L and XL. As a guide, S suits riders 158–170cm (5′2″–5′7″), M suits 168–180cm (5′6″–5′11″), L suits 178–190cm (5′10″–6′3″) and XL suits 188–200cm (6′2″–6′7″). FRAME, STANDARDS & WHAT’S INCLUDED

The frame runs a UDH derailleur hanger, a Press Fit BB92 bottom bracket, an ISCG 05 lower chain guide mount with a custom upper guide, a 34.9mm seatpost with a 38.5mm clamp and a ZS56 headset with internal cable routing (ICR) compatibility. The rear hub spacing is 148 x 12mm on a UDH-standard 180mm M12 axle, rear tyre clearance is 65mm, and the rear brake mount is postmount 200mm with a 223mm maximum rotor; the frame is piggy-back shock compatible. Both builds ship with a down tube protector, chainstay and seatstay protectors, a pick-up pad, a fork fender and a Fidlock bottle base.
